Meet Your Host

Hello! My name is Diana Jade and I am a cross-stitcher, knitter, crocheter, reader, and all-around crafts-lover. My current passion is cross-stitch, but I always have socks on the needles too!

I love attending retreats — but I always have to travel to them, since there hasn’t been one in the Ottawa area… until now! That’s why I’ve organized The Gathering Thread Retreat — with the help of friends and fellow makers — to bring a community of creatives together right here at home.

I’ve organized large events many times before for work, but this is my first crafty retreat — and the first time I’ve had to also take on marketing, website-building, and everything in between. So please forgive the occasional hiccups or missteps!

This is the first event of its kind in Ottawa, and we hope to make it an annual tradition. Each year, we’ll learn and grow together. For this inaugural year, we’ve styled it similarly to other cross stitch retreats we’ve attended and are continuing to add features as we speak!

For example, we’re searching for special speakers for meet-and-greets, and we’re hoping to have massage chairs available onsite! The vendors include incredible local makers offering beautiful items you’ll love — and we’re thrilled to announce our first sponsor: Wool-Tyme — Canada’s largest yarn store — which also carries cross stitch supplies and is located right near the venue!
